Film Capacitors

Film capacitors from NIC Components provide stable performance, low loss, and self-healing characteristics for a wide range of circuit applications. Safety-agency approved X1, X2, Y2 ratings (UL, cUL, ENEC, CQC) for use in AC line interference suppression and voltage dropper (for use in series with the mains) applications. Dielectric materials include Polypropylene (PP), Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS), Polyester (PET), Polyethylene Naphthalate (PEN) and Acrylic Polymer film in wound element (LDD) and stacked element (SMT) constructions. Film capacitors features include stability under VAC operation, safe end-of-life failure mode, low dissipation factor (DF) for high-efficiency power applications and low dielectric absorption (DA) soakage for sample and hold (A to D conversion) applications. Lower distortion and freedom from piezoelectric noise (both weaknesses of ceramic capacitors) makes film capacitors as the ideal choice for low noise test and instrumentation, audiophile, and precision circuits requiring stability over time, temperature, vibration and applied VDC.
